Your journal is deeply personal. This policy explains exactly what Fable Journal (fablejournal.com) collects, how it's used, and who can see it.
Your entries are used for one thing: showing them back to you and powering the features you use (weekly letters, memory search, year in review). To generate those, your notes are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, which processes them to produce your text. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use your journal to train AI models.
You. Entries are protected by per-account database rules — each account can only read and write its own journal. Our operators do not read your entries except if required to investigate abuse or comply with law.
Data is stored with Supabase (database and authentication) and processed by Vercel (hosting and cookieless page-view analytics), Stripe (payments on the website), Apple (payments made inside the iOS app, and the speech recognition described in section 1), Anthropic (AI generation), Resend (sending the emails we send you, such as your welcome email — it receives your email address and the message itself), Sentry (error reporting; it records where an error happened and, for a small sample of sessions, a screen recording in which all text is masked out, so your entries are never captured), and Meta (advertising measurement on the website only, described in section 5). Each processes only what they need to provide their service.
One page on the website — the guest-post form at /write — is delivered by FormSubmit, which receives the name, email address, and text you type into that form and emails it to us. It is used for nothing else, and it is not part of the app or your journal.
If you choose “Continue with Google,” Google also acts as your sign-in provider. You log in on Google's own site, so Google knows you have a Fable Journal account and when you sign in — you can see and revoke this any time under the connected-apps settings of your Google account. Google runs no code on fablejournal.com, sets no cookie here, and is never told anything about your entries or how you use Fable Journal.
Fable Journal uses the storage needed to keep you logged in, plus two measurement tools:
The only screen recordings we make are the masked Sentry error replays described in section 4, and we never send your entries, transcriptions, or moods to any advertising or analytics service. If you'd rather not be measured at all, your browser's tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop both tools, and Fable Journal will work exactly the same.
You can export your journal (paid plans include one-click export), correct your account details in Settings, and request deletion of your account and all its data by emailing us. Deletion is permanent.
Fable Journal is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new date and, for significant changes, notify you by email.
